GSA Contracts
Why a GSA contract?
The federal government is the biggest buyer of products and services in the world. There are a number of
contract vehicles by which the federal government buys. GSA contract is one of the contract vehicle government uses.
The benefits of acquiring a GSA contract include:
- Many agencies now require GSA contracts because because it reduces acquisition lead time
- Your rates are negotiated with the federal government and so are considered to be "fair and reasonable".
- Your GSA contract is considered to have been awarded under a "competitive" process.
- GSA contract allows a compnay to respond to those solicitations set-aside for GSA contract holders. If you do not have GSA contract, you will not be allowed to respond to a solicitation. You will be able to respond to solicitations for paying work to which companies without GSA contracts may not respond.
Qualifications for a GSA Schedule:
A company should meet these minimum qualifications in order to qualify for a GSA Schedule:
- Company been in business for at least one year for physical product sales or two years for professional services.
- At least three completed projects, within the past two years.
- Gross sales between $100K to $150K.
- At least six references.
- A professional accounting system, use a CPA or use software such as QuickBooks to manage your company's finances.
